States Rush To Figure Out How To Enforce Trump’s Medicaid Work Requirements

New Mexico is one of two states that will utilize AI to analyze claims data. Federal guidance on work requirements expected to release in June.  Key issues to consider include:

the definition of medical frailty, whether the state will apply all four short-term exemptions: (being in a hospital or nursing facility; traveling out of state for medical treatment, experiencing a natural disaster, and residing in a county with a very high unemployment rate), and the list of state hardship exemptions.
