Our Work Across New Mexico
At Health Action New Mexico, we believe that lasting change begins in our communities. Below are highlights of some of the initiatives we’re proud to be part of, showcasing the partnerships, events, and stories that drive our mission forward across the state.
Albuquerque Family Pride
June 2026-Health Action New Mexico staff tabled at Morningside Park in Nob Hill. It was an amazing day filled with love and 505 family pride! There were so many incredible organizations, yummy food, even los mariachis. This day was heart-warming and filled with community celebration. Way to represent Burque!

Chaparral Healthcare 101
June 2026- HANM workshop on healthcare coverage. HealthCare 101 presented by Loren. There was food, stories, discussion about healthcare coverage. Resources were given to participants to assist in better understanding health insurance.

Mini Health Fair
​May 2026-HANM Mini Health Fair held in La Union, New Mexico. Event was in collaboration with the following
non- profit organizations: Empowerment Congress, Tresco, Presbyterian, NM Health, Southern New Mexico Promotoras
de Salud, Emery Services Medicare Enrollment, Binational Breastfeeding Coalition, NMDOH Mobile Vaccine and Amador Health Center.
HealthCare 101 Sessions provided by HANM's Southern Coordinator-Loren, with participants ranging from 26 to 85 years old. Participants were from Las Cruces, Anthony, Sunland Park, Berino & La Union Communities.
Special THANK YOU to the volunteers, nonprofits and GroWild Cafe for the delicious food, beverages and a very beautiful space!
Promotoras Meeting
June 2026-Event was held at the Community Center in Del Cerro, NM. There were approximately 55 people in attendance, participants wore the HANM shirts in support of assisting New Mexicans to better understand their Health benefits through Medicaid, Medicare & BeWell.
The presentation by CAWA (Coalition of Agriculture Workers Association) was focused on legal rights of farm and dairy workers in New Mexico. Presenters were Ismael Chacon, Staff Attorney at NM Legal Aid (Central Legal De Campesino and Jessie Dixter, a second-year law student at the UNM School of Law and Stephanie Welch Attorney with the NMCLP.

Chaparral Youth Workshop
January 2026- This workshop focused on mental health took place in Chaparral at the Dolores Wright Community Center. 27 youth participated by expressing themselves through creating a Zine. Feelings of joy, sadness, and accomplishment were shared. Funding was given to New Mexico local news to address mental youth in rural communities.

CHW Christmas Gathering
December 2025-HANM was honored to participate in the Community Health Workers (CHW) Christmas Gathering held at the Vado Community Center. This vibrant event brought together approximately 50–55 dedicated CHWs from organizations across Southern New Mexico, including Empowerment Congress, the Department of Health, the CDC, CAFE, Building Strong Families, and representatives from communities such as Sunland Park, Columbus, Anthony, Las Cruces, and Deming.
HANM hosted an outreach table where we shared information about our DACA program and connected with attendees about our Health Journals/HealthCare 101 classes.
The event provided a meaningful opportunity to build relationships, support local health leaders, and invite community members to engage with our programs and resources.
