Outreach Projects and Initiatives

Our Work Across New Mexico
At Health Action New Mexico, we believe that lasting change begins in our communities. Below are highlights of some of the initiatives we’re proud to be part of, showcasing the partnerships, events, and stories that drive our mission forward across the state.

CHW Christmas Gathering

December 16, 2025 Community Outreach in Vado, NM
Health Action New Mexico was honored to participate in the Community Health Workers (CHW) Christmas Gathering held at the Vado Community Center. This vibrant event brought together approximately 50–55 dedicated CHWs from organizations across Southern New Mexico, including Empowerment Congress, the Department of Health, the CDC, CAFE, Building Strong Families, and representatives from communities such as Sunland Park, Columbus, Anthony, Las Cruces, and Deming. Our team hosted an outreach table where we shared information about our DACA program and connected with attendees about our Family Guide/Health Literacy classes. The event provided a meaningful opportunity to build relationships, support local health leaders, and invite community members to engage with our programs and resources.

Rugby Tournament

November 8th, 2025 - Rugby teams from across the South West region came together at the Balloon Fiesta park for a friendly tournament. The Health Action team was there to spread awareness of New Mexico's open enrollment period, and to keep the athletes loaded with electrolytes. Who knew rugby players loved pickles so much?

NMCLP Training

August 7th, 2024 - Health Action NM had the privilege to attend a training with the New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty to learn more about health coverage options for immigrants in our state. We’re so excited and honored to get to apply this knowledge to our work! The learning was non-stop, even when the power went out. Thank you @nmpovertylaw and @uvnr_nm for giving thoughtful, engaging presentations! We appreciated having @casadesaludnm as learning partners through this process. And a special shout out to @threesisterskitchennm for catering.
