Starting November 1, 2025, New Mexico will become the first state in the nation to provide no-cost, universal child care for families. Under the new initiative, all families—regardless of income—will be eligible for assistance. The program removes copayments and eliminates work or school requirements for many households, ensuring that every child can access early education and care.

This historic investment means average savings of up to $12,000 per child per year and builds on New Mexico’s commitment to making child care affordable, accessible, and equitable for all.
